Candice Tamakloe began skating at the age of 9 with the Renaissance Figure Skaters Club at the Jack Adams Memorial Ice Arena. The Renaissance Figure Skaters Club was founded by Mr. Alvin Latten in 1987 and was the first all African American Figure Skating Club in the U.S. Candice is a Senior gold medalist in Moves in the Field and Freestyle.

She is a former Eastern Great Lakes Regional competitor at the Intermediate (pre-silver), Novice (silver), and Junior (pre-gold) Freestyle levels. She was a performer in the Professional Show Ebony on Ice, directed and produced by Rory Flack-Burghart. Ebony on Ice was the first show of its kind that highlighted a cast of African-American professional skaters.

Candice is a former Theater on Ice competitor with the Harmony Theatre Company. She was on the 2013 National Championship Team and the 2013 International Silver medal-winning team in Logrono, Spain. She is a former Skating Director for the Renaissance Figure Skaters Club and has worked with skaters through the Intermediate Moves and Freestyle levels.

In January 2022 she co-founded and is the Skating Director for Dream Detroit Skating Club & Academy. Candice is a graduate of Cass Technical High School and has a bachelor’s and master’s in special education from Wayne State University with endorsements in cognitive impairments, learning disabilities, and English as a Second Language. She has been a special education teacher for the past 16 years and currently teaches K-5 Elementary Resource Room. She is also the owner of Gifted Design Events an event design business.
